International Women’s Day: 3 Woman-Owned Businesses We Love

Posted by Ashley Rene on

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated every year on March 8th. Ladies dazzle in purple, calling out for gender parity and advocacy. This day began in 1908. It manifested in New York where women were demanding shorter hours, better pay, and voting rights. For too long women dealt with oppression and inequality. While much has changed in 100+ years, some things remain the same. Women still fight for a level playing field. This is especially true for women in other parts of the world.

KADOO proudly commemorates this day. We are a woman owned gift box company supporting other female powered brands. As young girls we were taught the importance of independence. In this day and age, that is easier said than done. There are many pressures placed on our gender. Sometimes it is like we are running in circles. We are juggling so much—family, friends, career and home life. So we wanted to shine a light on woman-owned brands that inspire us and offer a way to unwind.

Here are three woman-owned businesses to know about:

MUSEE BATH

“We are pretty obsessed with bath products, but our passion is people.” Lisha, the founder, wholeheartedly lives by this. She made one charitable act, to give a man a job on her farm. This set the company in motion. At the time she had no work to offer, but she wanted to help. She loved baths! So they pulled out her kitchen mixers and whipped up a bath bomb. They mixed together natural ingredients sourced from her farm. About a decade later, Musee is thriving. Part of their mission is to alleviate poverty. They provide jobs to a population of woman fresh out of prison, and individuals with special needs. They also partner with The Kelly School and provide funding to schools in Haiti. BROOOKLYN CANDLE STUDIO

Founded by Tamara Mayne who studied Studio Art and Economics. She desired a natural candle at an affordable price. These artisan candles are wicked, poured, and labeled by hand in New York. The candles are also sustainable and eco friendly. They are petroleum free, cruelty-free, phthalate-free and 100% vegan candles. Brooklyn Candle Studio uses 100% soy wax derived from American-grown soybeans. Each candle is infused with scents meant to whisk you through dreams of nature and travel.

EARTH HARBOR

This clean beauty company was born from earth wonder woman, Ali Perry-Hatch. She has a MPH and is a certified toxicologist/herbalist. She saw the need for a non-toxic, synthetic-free, and plant-based skin care line. They are paving the way using proven botanicals. Every formula is derived from both land and sea. Nutrients come from plants, oils, salts, seaweeds, and earth. To minimize their footprint, Earth Harbor produces in small batches. This also ensures quality, purity, and freshness. Best of all they partner with 1% for the planet to save marine life.

At KADOO we like to curate our boxes with the best products. We want every woman to feel special. These women-owned businesses help us provide thoughtful gift boxes.

While we strive for our own personal victories we know, that women are still fighting for basic rights. Let us hope that International Woman’s Day brings sweeping change, globally.
